To be held at the Bismarck Ramada
BISMARCK, ND – The 54th Annual North Dakota Dairy Convention will take place January 19th, 2022 from
12:00pm-4:00pm at the Ramada Bismarck. The event is hosted by the Milk Producers Association of North
Dakota (MPA), with the goal to create an environment of learning, sharing and positivity for all dairy farmers
and industry stakeholders.
The Convention kicks off at noon with an Honoree’s Luncheon, during which a delicious dinner will be served
as the recipients of North Dakota’s top dairy awards are announced. Following the awards ceremony will be a
Keynote Address from North Dakota broadcasting legend, Al Gustin. For those who haven’t yet heard Al
Gustin speak, his gentlemanly spirit warms your heart while tickling your funny bone. This Morton County
rancher spent much of his professional life as a farm broadcaster in North Dakota, during which he reported on
the wild ups and downs of the agriculture industries and the emergence of the farming practices of today.
Immediately following Gustin’s presentation will be an Ice Cream Social, along with milk and cookies. The
Convention will also include a Sponsor Round Robin, during which the event sponsors will be recognized and
thanked for their continuing support of this important event.
Preceding the ND Dairy Convention will be several dairy business meetings. Beginning at 8:00am is a board
meeting of the ND Milk Marketing Board, hosted by Lance Gaebe. At 10:00am will be a Dairy Checkoff Update
and Dairy District Meetings, hosted by Char Heer of Midwest Dairy. Then at 11:00am will be the Annual
Meeting of the MPA of ND. The morning business meetings will conclude at noon to allow attendees to join the
The Milk Producers Association’s awards being presented are the Merit Award and Milky Way Award. The
Merit Award is given to dairy stakeholders who go above and beyond in furtherance of MPA’s mission and
vision. The top honor of the day is the Milky Way lifetime achievement award that is presented to individuals in
appreciation for and in recognition of outstanding contributions to the ND dairy industry. The North Dakota
Department of Agriculture will present the Commissioner’s Award of Dairy Excellence. The award is given to
one dairy farm per year that has a record of community and industry involvement, quality dairy production and
environmentally friendly practices.
